    I am a big believer that getting referrals is one of the most important ways you can build your business. When I ask my clients what worked for them in the past, the comments I hear the most are. "I get most of my new clients/customers from referrals". Here are a few suggestions to help you on the road to building your business by referrals. To read the complete article

    Getting Referrals
    1. One way of receiving referrals is to think in reverse. Instead of asking for one, earn one. If you are not getting referrals, maybe you are not providing the service your customers want and you are not as good as YOU think you are. Ask your customers what you can do to better to serve THEIR needs. When your customers are satisfied, it should be easy to get referrals.

    2. Another good way to get a referral is to give a one. If you changed, your way of thinking from 'How do I get a referral' to 'How can I give a referral' your rewards might be greater. Think of someone you can refer to your clients. This is the givers gain philosophy.

    3. One of the best ways to ask for a referral without being obvious is to do so indirectly. You might say something like: "Mrs. Smith, my product (or service) proves to be everything I say it is and more, and I have the reputation and experience that proves it. Is there someone you know who would benefit from using my product or service?"

    1. Listen closely to what it is your customers REALLY want and expect.
    2. Ask your customers how you can better serve them.
    3. Inform your customers that your business thrives from referrals from great customers.
    4. Tell your customers that the greatest compliment they can give is the referral of a friend or family member.
    5. Keep in contact with your customers.

    Make others feel important - The more they know you care, the more they will care how much you know.

    Promote a vision - Share your vision with your team so everyone is working for the same purpose. Provide the vision and be the leader.

    Criticize only in private - Let people know when mistakes have been made but do it in private and in a way that will encourage them to do a better job and let them know they are important.

    Evaluate the results - Ask yourself daily, "What have I accomplished to get me closer to my goals'. If you don't like the answer, evaluate the situation and tasks.
